America First Apartment Investors, Inc. was formed in 2002 as a real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is the successor to America First Apartment Investors, L.P. which was a limited partnership formed in 1996. In November 2002, investors voted to merge the partnership with and into America First Apartment Investors, Inc.
On June 3, 2004, America First Apartment Investors, Inc. merged with America First Real Estate Investment Partners, L.P. a NASDAQ – listed real estate entity of similar size and with similar investment objectives. The merger of these two companies created a REIT with a consolidated asset base of approximately $300 million, a real estate portfolio of 29 apartment communities and one commercial property.
